Machu Picchu to Cuzco

sunny 19 °C

Today was our last walk through Machu Picchu.  It started off cloudier than it had been either day we had been there and it was another wonderful experience in this wonderful land seeing the clouds cover the mountains and then move past. Amazing!!

After we said goodbye to Machu Pichu, we had another fantastic lunch.  This time in Aguas Calienties. We then walked through a market by the train station which was very touristy after which we got on the train for a 2 hour trip back to Ollantaytambo.  It was an interesting ride.  After cleaning up from the snack they provided, they cranked up the music and there was an individual dressed a bird costume that did a dance down the ailse. Then there was a fashion show with clothes made from alpaca hair they were selling.  When we went up on the train it was cloudy and rainy, but today it is sunny making it a very pretty ride.

From Ollantaytambo we took an 1 1/2 hour ride to Cuzco and our hotel the Hotel Monasterio. It is a beautiful place and I wish we were staying another day here.

Tomorrow is a day of travel for us. We get up very early to catch a morning flight to Lima and then have a 3 hour layover until our flight to Quito.

Peru is a wonderful country and I hope we can come back some day.
